Emails. We can’t ignore them. Or can we?
These essential items affect our business in more ways than you might imagine. Firstly, they can bring good news in the form of a new Client or business. Secondly, they are an everyday part of our lives. Communication is largely accomplished at the speed of light.
The downside is that they can take a massive portion of your day. If you get an alert and stop every time one arrives, you lose about 30% of your efficiency. By the time you get back to what you were doing, the continuity is lost.
A better way is to allocate some time first thing in the morning. Then after lunch. Then just before you go home.
Can’t do it? Rubbish! If you were in a Training Seminar or Meeting, you would not have your phone on. You’d have no idea an email had arrived. You can be uncontactable for 3 hours and it will not mean the world will collapse without you.
Whatever you do, don’t do it in the car on the way home unless you have a chauffeur. You’re no good to anyone if you’re dead.
